Normally, when we have bottle drives, we do them immediately following church. However, this time we’re going to try something new. We’ll be having our bottle drive on July 6 from 6-9 p.m. This way it should be cooler and I think more people will be home in the evening than in the afternoon. There will be boating, crafts, a hayride, and a chance to meet the camp directors. We will be departing immediately after church on Sunday to go to Sky Lake. There will be a chicken Bar-b-q at the lake for $8.50. However, we will also be making our yearly stop at the Wendy’s in Kirkwood for lunch if you would rather that. Please make sure to bring/wear appropriate clothes to church on Sunday as I’m sure it will be muddy there. Yipee! Sneakers are a must!

Please let one of the leaders know if you will be attending so we can make appropriate arrangements for vehicles.

As you may have heard, the famous Grandma’s Attic is coming on May 17. That’s THIS Saturday! This is a huge fundraiser for our church and we could use your hands if they’re free that day. You could be helping keep the tables of goodies straight and full, helping check-out and bagging, helping the women with their bake sale, or helping the men with their chicken bar-b-q. Yum! Please let me know by Sunday May 3 if you would like to go to Conference this year. It takes place at the University of Scranton from Thursday May 29 to Saturday May 31. You will stay in dorm rooms with other youth and attend Conference sessions and youth activities. The costs are listed on the registration form, which you can get here:

Park Terrace is allowed one youth representative for whom room and meals will be paid. If more than one youth would like to go to Conference (and join Lauren who is youth representative for the Binghamton District), you can share the meals and split the cost. Remember, the church has a youth scholarship available that you can apply for! Ask Pastor Nick for information on this scholarship.

If you want to go to Conference, (1) get your parents permission, (2) talk to your teachers about homework and quizzes, and (3) let me know by Sunday May 3 if you can go. Let me know if you have any questions!

On the menu is fettucini alfredo, mac and cheese, broccoli and cheese soup, grilled cheese, goat cheese, cheetos/cheese poofs, cheese and crackers, and cheesecake. Mmmm.

What we still need: Goat cheese, cheese poofs, cheese and crackers, and cheesecake. Please e-mail me or leave a comment if you are willing to provide one of these items.

The proceeds from this lunch will be going toward our Relay for Life team (for the American Cancer Society). I think we can raise $3,000 this year! Everyone who has one, please wear a Relay for Life shirt on Sunday. Most of us have more than one, so please bring extras for those who don’t or who forget to bring their shirt.

To do:
Volunteer to bring one of the cheese items
Wear your RFL shirt on Sunday
Bring an extra RFL shirt or two

Following ice skating will be a lock-in, sleeping–yes sleeping–in the youth room. Bring church clothes to change into for Sunday morning. You will still be having Sunday school and going to service. Bring also your sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.

After the service on March 16th is the Easter egg hunt, and Mrs. Bogdan has asked for your help. I know most of you are planning on helping anyway since it’s fun.

Remember, let Stacy know this week if you can work at the Home Show this Sunday after church!

So I’ve added some photos to the Misc. set on the youth group photo Web site, and I’ve also added the sets B-Mets ‘06, CAREnival ‘06, Spring Fling ‘06, and Bowling ‘05. And yes, the B-Mets ‘06 set is from the Breast Cancer Awareness game when we stayed after to get Jay Caligiuri’s autograph, and he did the Jay Caligiuri.

Coming soon (Sunday) to a fellowship hall near you (yours, actually)–it’s Baked Potato Bar.

This may be the first baked potato bar Park Terrace has ever experienced, and it’s for certain the first baked potato bar that was advertised using a dancing potato wearing chef’s hat, so the pressure is on! Don’t screw it up!

Anyway. We’ll be wrapping our taters in tin foil during Sunday school this Sunday at 9:30. They’ll bake during the service. Then we’ll provide our church with another awesome free (will) lunch. If anyone asks, the potatoes are $25.00 each. They’ll believe you. But if the asking person calls them taters, they get to eat for free (will).
