Bottle Drive

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

We are scheduled to have a bottle drive on Sunday, July 6. Normally, when we have bottle drives, we do them immediately following church. However, this time we’re going to try something new. We’ll be having our bottle drive on July 6 from 6-9 p.m. This way it should be cooler and I think more people will be home in the evening than in the afternoon. Please let me know if you can’t make it…..

Sky Lake Open House

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Open House at Sky Lake is this Sunday! There will be boating, crafts, a hayride, and a chance to meet the camp directors. We will be departing immediately after church on Sunday to go to Sky Lake. There will be a chicken Bar-b-q at the lake for $8.50. However, we will also be making our yearly stop at the Wendy’s in Kirkwood for lunch if you would rather that. Please make sure to bring/wear appropriate clothes to church on Sunday as I’m sure it will be muddy there. Yipee! Sneakers are a must!

Please let one of the leaders know if you will be attending so we can make appropriate arrangements for vehicles.

Grandma’s Attic

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Good Afternoon Cruisers,

As you may have heard, the famous Grandma’s Attic is coming on May 17. That’s THIS Saturday! This is a huge fundraiser for our church and we could use your hands if they’re free that day. You could be helping keep the tables of goodies straight and full, helping check-out and bagging, helping the women with their bake sale, or helping the men with their chicken bar-b-q. Yum! Please let me know if you would be willing and able to help and what times you could be available so I know how many helpers to expect. Thanks much!

Local Celebrities (Again)!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Congratulations Sara and Gregg, not only for making the Press and Sun Bulletin, but for giving kids a great Christmas. You chose to use your free time to help others, and for that I am so, so proud! You represent your generation well. And when you hear people say, “Teenagers don’t usually use their time helping others,” remember, most people of ANY AGE don’t use their time helping others; your deeds are rare for human beings in general, not just teenagers. You should be proud of yourselves. I’m glad you were recognized :-)

Liturgists Wanted

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Imagine having the power to  get 100+ people to say “Good morning.”  Imagine telling 100+ people to sit down, and then having them all do it simultaneously on your command. The Liturgists Do you have to be a superhero to have such powers?  NO.  You can be a liturgist.  A liturgist reads the Scriptures, leads the prayers, and does call to worship.  If you would like to give it a try, let Pastor Nick know.  For your first time, we’ll pair you up with another youth.  Then, once you are more comfortable, you can try it on your own if you’d like.

Church Has Left the Building

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Church Has Left the Building LogoDid you know that the youth inspired this program? When you all came back from the Bowery Mission in NYC, the adults at Park Terrace started asking to do missions projects of their own. So, we came up with the crazy idea: We’ll cancel church on September 23rd, and send 100 people out into our community to do 15 different mission projects. Have you signed up yet? Be sure to check out the page at http://www.parkterraceumc.org/thechurchhasleftthebuilding.htm

Have you signed up yet?

Remember, you can invite a friend to come along too. All of the project info is on the site, including the downloadable versions of the registration and permission forms.

We need everyone to participate if we’re going to reach our goal.
